COSTA MESA - Erikka Gulbranson, the former Director of Operations
of USC volleyball, is Vanguard University’s new women’s volleyball coach,
Athletic Director Bob Wilson said.
Gulbranson assumes her first collegiate head coaching position after
nine years of coaching experience. She has served as an assistant at Cal
State Bakersfield, where she played, University of Idaho, Utah State and
USC, where she was involved in all aspects of the Trojans’ volleyball
program.
“We are pleased to announce the selection of Erikka Gulbranson to
direct our volleyball program,” Wilson said. “We feel that Coach
Gulbranson brings the expertise, energy and desire to help our volleyball
program become very competitive in one of the best volleyball conferences
(Golden State Athletic Conference) in the National Association of
Intercollegiate Athletics.”
Gulbranson, who will also teach in the Exercise Sports Science
department, is a founder and co-owner of Advanced Sports Training Inc.,
which runs mult-sport private camps and clinics for young children
through high school age athletes, and for youth coaches to advance their
coaching techniques and skills.
Coach Gulbranson’s position is effective immediately as she will
transition from her duties at USC into her first association with the
NAIA and the GSAC.
The Lions finished 3-20 last season but return 10 players, including
three seniors.
