WORKING

Linda Green: Customers are the highlight of her loan officer duties.

SHE IS

Helping people borrow money.

VERSATILITY

Green is the assistant vice president, general manager of Spectrum

bank in Huntington Beach. Before joining the boutique style Spectrum bank

3 years ago, Green had been a consumer loans officer for 14 years at a

rival bank. But although her title comes with an image of prestige, Green

says she doesn’t sit around behind a desk all day, rather, she does it

all.

“My job entails business development, which means I focus on bringing

in new customers to our bank,” Green said. “But I open accounts too. If

somebody wants me to come in and serve them then I’ll do it. I will also

go out of the bank and collect deposits from some customers who can’t

come in because they can’t close their business. Basically, it’s a very

personalized bank and we take care of our customers at a branch level.”

CUSTOMER SERVICE

An institution in the community, Spectrum Bank opened in 1955 and has

always been able to provide dedicated service at a community level. A

people person, Green says that she likes the intimacy she is able to

share with the community not only inside the bank, but outside as well.

Inside the bank, Green deals very heavily with Orange County’s sizable

Vietnamese community. If the problem of communication arises, Green turns

to one of her Vietnamese tellers who also doubles as a translator.

“We see our service as being much more personal than other banks,”

Green said. “We know our customers by name and we can do things like make

decisions within the bank and not have to go to some corporate office

that is out of state for approval.”

COMMUNITY SERVICE

After her banking hours, which are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday

through Friday, Green invests back into the community and participates in

the volunteer mentor program at Ocean View High School. She is also

involved in the rotary club.

Married for 15 years, Green says that in her past, she has had the

opportunity to pursue enterprising business ventures, but always found

herself coming back to banking. Being able to deal with and help people

always seemed to be the impetus, which brought Green back to the banking

business.

“I have got to be out with the people . . . I really do,” Green said.

“Not only do I find it rewarding to solve customer problems should they

occur, but, I have a great group ofemployees who work hard and do a

wonderful job.”
