Jeannette Florence Spiegel, a former Newport Beach resident who lived
in the community for more than 21 years, died Monday of unknown causes.
She was 93.
Mrs. Spiegel was born in Green Bay, Wis., on March 12, 1908.
She was a business owner in Newport Beach for 21 years. She formerly
owned Hansel and Gretel Playhouse, a child-care business, and a doll
store on Newport Boulevard.
She was an avid doll collector. Mrs. Spiegel and her late husband,
Frank, were also regular visitors to the Costa Mesa Senior Center.
Mrs. Spiegel is survived by sons Frank Spiegel Jr., Ben Spiegel, Jim
Spiegel; daughter Helen Walker; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren;
and six great-great-grandchildren.
A service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Pierce Brothers Bell
Broadway Mortuary. Burial will be at Melrose Abbey after a service and
reception at the Costa Mesa Senior Center at 1:30 p.m. Friday.
