THE WEATHER FORECAST
Though heating up from temperatures seen earlier in the week, readings
are continuing to be below normal for mid-July. As during the past week,
however, morning clouds will still prove to be a factor.
Temperatures will finally reach the mid-70s again but will still fall
short of typical July readings. The high of 75 will feel a bit warmer,
while the low of 64 will feel a tad cooler.
Dig out those swimsuits as the mercury may hit 80 by the end of the
week.
Sunscreen should become a prevalent thought for those sunbathing
between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. The UV level will reach 9 during the height of
the day.

THE BOATING FORECAST
In the inner waters, light winds of 10 to 15 knots should be expected,
with waves reflecting that at 2 feet during the afternoon. Not much will
change going into the night as winds will continue at 10 to 15 knots with
similar 2-foot waves.
Those in the outer waters should expect winds of 10 knots or fewer,
though by afternoon, winds picking up out of the northwest could reach 15
knots. Waves will still be about 2 feet. By night, those northwest winds
could near 20 knots with slightly larger waves as a result.
SURF
Light southern winds in the morning will pick up out of the west in
the afternoon, producing 2- to 3-footers at the jetties and 56th Street.
The sets aren’t expected to be too consistent, though.
Waves are even smaller at the Newport Pier with 1- to 2-footers being
the norm. The Wedge will produce larger ones with knee- to waist-high
surf, though it’ll be inconsistent and peaky.
Water temperatures are still a bit cool in the low- to mid-60s.
