THE WEATHER FORECAST
As has been typical lately, the day will kick off in the low to
mid-60s with various low clouds that will retreat enough to provide
mostly sunny conditions throughout the day.
While still shy of the mid-70s and typical mid-July conditions, the
mercury should strike 73 degrees, though it will feel a tad warmer.
Temperatures along the beach will feel a little cooler and will barely
reach 70.
By evening, the temperatures will return to the 60s, eventually
reaching an overnight low of 64.
Expect warmer weather Wednesday as temperatures rise into the mid-70s.
But be smart and use sunscreen with UV levels creeping up on 10.
THE BOATING FORECAST
Inland, winds will blow 10 to 15 knots out of the northwest. The seas
are expected to generate 2-foot waves as a result. Visibility should be
great at 25 miles. Out farther, there will be a similar light wind of 10
to 15 knots coming out of the west.
SURF
Light winds in the morning will pick up and produce occasional 4-foot
waves throughout the day. Those at the jetties should expect mostly 2- to
3-footers with inconsistent sets. Most will break left, though rights
can’t be counted out. Water temperatures continue to be in the low to
mid-60s.
At The Wedge, similar-sized waves will be seen with sets inconsistent
as well. A few bowly lefts should pop up here and there, though. At
Newport Pier, smaller surf in the form of 1- to 2-footers will come
through stacked up on one another.
