LOS ALAMITOS - The Costa Mesa Pony 14 Baseball All-Star team
dropped a 10-9 decision in the first round of the District All-Star
Tournament at Cottonwood Park Friday.
The locals jumped out to a 5-2 lead and led, 8-5, before Dana Point
pecked away at the deficit and took a 9-8 lead in the fifth inning.
Jordan Kalke scored the tying run in the sixth inning on an RBI double
by Ryan Gleason, but Dana Point regained the lead in the sixth inning
when a dropped third strike allowed the winning run to reach base. That
runner eventually scored on a passed ball.
Costa Mesa was led offensively by Alex Pisarski, who had three singles
and a double. R.J. Duernberger, Andrew Sanford and Skylar Cozad each
added key singles, while Jose Robles was strong defensively at third
base, posting four putouts.
