Club Water Polo: CdM wins three in Trabuco tourney

The Corona del Mar girls water polo club’s B team, which consists
mostly of the high school’s athletes, recorded three wins and two losses
in the TRAP 16-and-under Tournament Saturday and Sunday at Mission Viejo
High School.
CdM opened tournament play with a 15-5 win over Santa Margarita, and
split the next two games which were also on Saturday.
In the final game of the day, CdM lost to tourney host Trabuco Hills,
13-7. Another loss came Sunday, when San Diego Shores defeated CdM, 15-5,
but CdM closed out he tournament with a 13-5 victory over Chino Hills.
Brittany Bowlus led CdM with 23 goals as she scored in four games,
including a seven-point performance in the win over Chino Hills and a
six-point outing, leading to the victory over Santa Margarita. She scored
five goals in each of the other two games, the win over Huntington Beach
and the loss to San Diego Shores.
Corona’s Vivian Liao (14 goals scored) and Katie Kubas (five) also
contributed.
CdM goalkeeper Brittany Fullen amassed 29 saves throughout the
tournament, including an eight-save performance in the win over
Huntington Beach.
The CdM water polo club consists of two teams. The A team is made up
of mostly varsity athletes and the B team has junior varsity players.
The CdM A team will play in the University 18-and-under Tournament
this weekend and the B team enters the Villa Park 18-and-under Tournament
July 20.
