Boys water polo: CdM captures crown

IRVINE - The Corona del Mar High boys water polo team defeated La
Canada, 14-2, Sunday to win the University High 18-and-under Tournament
at University High.
The Sea Kings broke to a 6-0 first-quarter lead and maintained that
margin at halftime. They outscored La Canada, 6-1 in the third quarter
and cruised to the victory.
Jason DiRocco paced the winners with four goals, while Marcello
Pantuliano added three. Matt Meyer, John Mann and Griffin Gentry added
two goals apiece and Mann collected a team-high three assists.
Artie Dorr rounded out the scoring for the winners, who received five
saves from Sherwin Kim, five from David Carlson and another from Beau
Stockstill.
In the semifinals, CdM pounded Edison, 18-3.
Dorr and Mann paced the offensive attack with five goals apiece, while
Pantuliano added four. DiRocco (two), Gentry and Hinger (one each)
rounded out the scoring.
Stockstill and Carlson had four saves apiece and teammate Tyler
Brundage had one.
