A man was arrested after a short pursuit Tuesday morning, Costa Mesa
Police Lt. Dale Birney said.
Police had a prior warrant for the arrest of Ernest Edmond McDonald, a
34-year-old Santa Ana resident, who was also arrested on suspicion of
evading a police officer and driving on a suspended license, Birney said.
At 10:20 a.m., a deputy tried to stop McDonald on suspicion of a
traffic violation at Harbor Boulevard and Merrimac Way.
Instead of stopping, McDonald led officers on a chase that ended with
him losing control of his car at Baker and Bear streets, where he struck
a traffic signal, police said.
The pursuit lasted about four minutes, Birney said.
