Fountain Valley police located a car last week that was allegedly
stolen by a Huntington Beach man.
On May 8, Officer Bobby Miramontes located the 2000 Ford crew cab at
Brookhurst Street and Edinger Avenue. A record check on the license plate
showed that it was stolen off a Mercury vehicle. The license plate theft
occurred earlier that day, outside of Huntington Beach.
The vehicle was driven by Thomas L. McClaine, 33 of Huntington Beach.
Miramontes and Officer Ray Rakitis stopped the vehicle in a parking
lot in the 16200 block of Brookhurst Street. Shortly after the stop was
made, McClane who was the sole occupant, exited the vehicle and took off
running. He jumped the fence on the south end of a complex and into a
residential yard.
Officers were involved in a foot pursuit of McClane for about a
half-mile, when he jumped another fence back into the parking lot. He was
taken into custody without any further incident.
McClane was arrested for auto theft and possession of stolen property.
