Community college baseball: OCC trio earns all-conference honors
Orange Coast College baseball players, freshmen Scott Beerer and
Mark Courvoisier and sophomore Josh McCanne, earned all-conference honors
as voted by Orange Empire Conference coaches.
Beerer, a Newport Harbor High product, gained first-team status as a
utility player. He finished the regular season with a .370 batting
average, the second-highest mark on the team. He also excelled on the
mound, posting a 5-2 record to go with a 2.73 ERA. He struck out 52 and
walked just 14 in 69 1/3 innings of work.
Corvoisier earned second-team honors as a relief pitcher. He recorded
a 3.26 ERA in 16 appearances, mostly in relief.
McCanne hit a team-high .401 for Coast and was named to the OEC’s
second team. The first baseman smacked 11 doubles and scored a team-high
36 runs.
The Pirates (24-16) will play at Cuesta today at 10 a.m. in the
Southern California Regional Playoffs.
