Softball: Sailors looking toward the future

ALISO NIGUEL - The Newport Harbor High softball team dropped its
final game of the season, 6-0, to host Aliso Niguel Thursday.
The Sailors (9-14, 0-8 in league) received hits from Athena Vasquez,
Shelby Crisp, Brianne Parmeter and Kim Moore.
Coach Jess Martinson is already looking forward to the possibilities
for next season.
“The core of this team is sophomores,” Martinson said. “We’ll have
seven (returning juniors) for next season, we’ll have our entire infield
back and a majority of our pitching. As far as this year goes, we had
four or five players who really worked their tails off and I’m proud of
them for that.”
