LONG BEACH - The Newport Aquatic Center’s junior crew made a strong
showing at Sunday’s Southern California Cup Regatta, held at the Marine
Stadium.
The women’s novice coxed quad (bow seat Jean Geddes, Sara Walles,
Shannon Packer and Emily McKay, with coxswain Lauren Lorman) placed first
against competition from Long Beach and San Diego.
The women’s “B” eight boat (Raelyn Druny, Erika Gambill, Michelle
Fickling, Kirsten Contino, Lauern Berghill, Julie Cameron, Jamie Baratta
and Olivia St. Clair with coxswain Jennifer Goess) also placed first, as
did the women’s “A” boat (Geddes, Walles, Lauren May, Alisia Ford,
Packer, St. Clair, Lindsay Payne, McKay and Lorman).
Next up for the NAC is the state championship, held in Sacramento on
May 19.
