NHBA Bronco: Dodgers edge Mets

NEWPORT BEACH - The Dodgers rallied with five runs in the seventh
inning for a 7-6 comeback victory over the Mets in Newport Harbor
Baseball Association Bronco Division (ages 11-12) action.
Jarrett Daniel came through with two hits and pitched two shutout
innings for the Dodgers, while Eric Paine started the game on the mound
and had three strikeouts to go along with his key seventh-inning hit.
R.J. D’Cruz earned the win by pitching the final two innings, while
solid all-around play was turned in by Alan Orozco, Dan Winkle, Jerry
Whitney, Trey LaGrandeur, Jake Payton and Robert Tumlin.
For the Mets, Brennan Davis and John Razzano each pitched three solid
innings, while Spenser Richley and Thomas Southern each came through with
two hits. Other key contributors included Nathan Talbot, Andrew McDonald,
Jonathan Herdman, Charley O’Desky, Holden Gray-Keogh and Michael
Messinger.
In other Bronco Division action:
Indians 12, Cubs 12 - The Indians used a five-run sixth inning for
force a 12-12 tie with the Cubs.
The Indians were led by Nathan Todd, Myles Christian, T.J. Fish,
Jonathan Sutterfield, Andrew Kaban, Kyle Rohan, Garrett Gordon, Jackson
Massingill and Robert Rubio.
The Cubs had solid all-around play from Zippy Levy, Drew Harris, Fred
Randall, McKenna Duley, Fred Randall and Mike Maddux.
Dodgers 21, Braves 8 - The Dodgers put three touchdowns on the
scoreboard en route to their win over the Braves.
Leading the Dodgers’ offense was Robert Tumlin, Jake Dayton, R.J.
D’Cruz, Ian Goodwin, Jarrett Daniel, Eric Paine, Alan Orozco, Jerry
Whitney, Dan Winkle, Trey LaGrandeur and Chase Behr.
The Braves were led by John Swift, Nikko Hernandez, Chase Lanting,
Troy Seeber, Junior Hernandez, Michael Puncel, David Holmes and Justin
Jones.
In Mustang Division (ages 9-10) action:
Dodgers 7, Rockies 2 - Chris Griffin went 3 for 3 with four RBIs to
lead the Dodgers over the Rockies.
Jeff Frum pitched three strong innings with five strikeouts, while
Garrett McRoberts and Daniel Norris provided solid defense for the
Dodgers. Solid all-around play was turned in by Jeff Alee, Justin Cotham,
Max Joliffe and Braden Cluck.
For the Rockies, Cody Green pitched three strong innings, while
Spencer Venegas drove in two runs with a double.
Mariners 4, Yankees 1 - The Mariners’ defense was the key to victory
over the Yankees.
Leading the defensive charge was Zachary Chocek, Parker Norton,
Spencer Martinez and Darren Leggett, while Josh Jaye anchored the
pitching staff. Key hits were provided by Adrian Rodriguez, Bryce Fisher
and Sean MacInnis.
Justin Todd led the strong play from the Yankees.
Angels 6, Diamondbacks 5 - Abdon Ortega pitched three scoreless
innings to lead the Angels over the Diamondbacks.
Eddie Pinela drove in two runs with a key double, adding to his .750
batting average.
The Diamondbacks were led by Ryan Desantigo, Josh Gagnon, Francisco
Barron, Gilbert Obeso and Michael Rentera.
In Pinto Division (ages 7-8) action:
For the Marlins, in their contest with the Cardinals, Max Gerard
pitched two strong innings with six strikeouts, while Austin Rios, Scotty
Steffel and Mac McKelvey also pitched well.
The Marlins’ offense was led by Zachary Buie, Teddy Steffel, Gwen
Gaylord and Domenic Re.
