Organizers of the third annual Eclectic Orange Festival are launching
an unusual scavenger hunt. They have set out to collect 100 metronomes
for the festival’s “You Are Hear” exhibit at the Orange County Museum of
Art in Newport Beach this October. The 100 metronomes -- mechanical
devices used to keep tempo -- are to be set off simultaneously during the
performance of composer Gyorgy Ligeti.
The Orange County Philharmonic Society is accepting the loaned
metronomes in its offices, 2082 Business Center Drive, Suite 100 in
Irvine, beginning July 9. Information: (949) 533-2422.
