School to dedicate plaque in honor of teacher

Oka Elementary School in Huntington Beach will have a ceremony
dedicating a plaque to Karin Uhl at 3:15 p.m. May 10 on the school’s
kindergarten playground, 9800 Yorktown Ave.
Uhl served the Fountain Valley School District for 35 years until she
passed away in December from cancer at 57.
The school has already planted three California pepper trees and
installed a bronze plaque in her memory.
She is survived by her husband Bruce, son Jason and his wife Denise,
son Derek and daughter Whitney.
Uhl served as the school’s improvement program coordinator and on the
leadership team. She taught kindergarten the last nine years.
Former students and their parents are invited to attend the ceremony.
