Cardinals fly in 12-2 win

Pairing an unrelenting offense with a strong pitching effort by Chris
Poulson, the Cardinals on Saturday ripped the Yankees, 12-2, in Seaview Little League Majors Division play.
The Cards recorded 16 hits in five innings. Austin Morgan led the
charge with a 4 for 4 performance, which included a triple and a pair of
doubles. Jason Birk finished 3 for 3 with three RBI, Carl Eberts had
three hits, Poulson had two and Mark Brooks, Austin Rovazzini, Eric
Butler and Jamie Martin each had a hit.
Poulson’s victory included eight strikeouts to go along with three
hits.
Pat Corbet tripled and Bryan Kobylka and Mike Miner each had singles
for the Yankees.
In other games:
Pirates 3, Reds 0
Pitchers Eric Uttecht and Kyle Higoshioka combined to strike out nine
and allow just one hit. Higoshioka went 2 for 3, and Cort Ross, Bryan
Adsit, Alex Johnson and Anthony Paterno all had hits for the Pirates.
Derek Bauermeister pitched a complete game for the Reds giving up just
six hits. Bauermeister also had the lone hit for the Reds.
Dodgers 7, Angels 5
The Dodgers received a combined 11 strikeouts and a three-hitter from
pitchers Tyler Chapman and Greg Davis in beating the Angels. Logan Strook
walked twice, doubled and scored twice, Bryan Visnoski tripled, Trevor
Gordon doubled and Chapman had a hit.
David McLaughlin, Nick Bauerschmidt and Kyle Sinnott had base hits for
the Angels. Halos pitchers McLaughlin and Brad Adams combined to strike
out eight and give up four hits.
Pirates 4, Dodgers 0
Cort Ross was at the top of his game, allowing one hit while striking
out 12 and walking only two for the Pirates. He also had two singles and
the Pirates scored four unearned runs on four Dodger errors.
Angels 11, Yankees 0
David McLaughlin singled twice, doubled and capped the game with a
home run. Sean Oates had two doubles, pitchers Bree Williston and Kyle
Sinnott shutout the Yankees and the Angels defense did not commit an
error.
MINOR A DIVISION
Dodgers 6, Pirates 2
The Dodgers wrapped up the first half championship behind the pitching
of Garrett Heckel and the hitting of Zach Campbell.
Heckel pitched a complete game, striking out 10 against a single walk.
Campbell, meanwhile, sparked the offense with two hits and two runs
scored.
