Braves reach perfect 10
The unbeaten Braves picked up their 10th win by defeating the Mets,
10-7, in Majors Division play at Robinwood Little League.
Kevin Powers and Todd Locken shared pitching duties, with Powers
picking up his third win of the season. Locken finished with eight
strikeouts in three innings, which included striking out the side in the
fourth and fifth innings.
Ryan Olson delivered the big hit in the fourth inning with a bases
loaded double that scored three runs. Olson had an RBI single earlier in
the game. Kevin Radle, Powers and Locken had two hits apiece.
The Braves added an insurance run in the top of the sixth inning when
Keegan Grebe, who singled, was sacrificed to second base on Kyle
Sutheimer’s well-executed bunt, and scored on D.J. Huber’s RBI single.
It was the second game between the two teams in a four day span, with
the Braves routing the Mets, 17-2, in the first meeting. The Braves
racked up 18 hits and scored six runs in the first and fifth innings.
Powers, Radle and Locken each collected three hits and were responsible
for eight RBI and nine runs scored. Grebe, Huber and Mark Potter each had
two hits. Potter made a great running catch to end the fifth inning.
Powers nabbed another win behind three strong innings of scoreless ball.
