It was the sixth grade student/athletes turn to shine last weekend at
the 2001 Ocean View School District Track & Field Championships at
Huntington Beach High.
One week after their seventh- and eighth-grade classmates took the
spotlight, the sixth-graders competed in six events, with athletes
representing Mesa View, Marine View and Spring View garnering first place
finishes.
“It’s great to see the enthusiasm of our sixth grade students,” Ocean
View School District Sports Coordinator Kelly Painter said. “Many of
these youngsters have limited experience in track and field, so we hope
this meet will encourage them to continue to explore the sport.”
