IN FAVOR
WHAT HAPPENED:
The board approved the spending plans for for the 2000-2001 School
Site Block Grants and the Governor’s Performance Awards.
WHAT IT MEANS:
The allocation of spending funds for the Site Block Grants will help
provide schools with the opportunity to focus on critical needs of a
one-time nature based on their school plans. The funds will also allow
for more attention on priorities such as safety and site improvements.

IN FAVOR
WHAT HAPPENED:
The board approved the adoption of science instructional materials for
students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
WHAT IT MEANS:
The new science materials are based on the state’s existing
curriculum, frameworks, related criteria and content standards.
NEXT MEETING
The Huntington Beach City School District will meet again at 7 p.m.
May 15 in the district board room, 20451 Craimer Lane, Huntington Beach.
