COSTA MESA - The visiting Northwood Timberwolves shed their sheep’s
clothing after three innings, exploding for 11 runs on nine hits in the
fourth to erase a 4-0 deficit and claim an 18-7 Pacific Coast League
baseball victory over Estancia Tuesday.
The loss dropped the Eagles (6-15, 3-9 in league) into sole possession
of last place and officially eliminated them from the race for one of
three guaranteed PCL berths in the CIF Southern Section playoffs.
Senior shortstop Armando Ortiz went 2 for 2 with an RBI and scored
three times to key the 10-hit Estancia attack. Senior Brent Davis went 2
for 3 with two runs and junior J.B. Goff went 2 for 3 with a double for
the Eagles, who visit Northwood Friday.
Northwood (4-8 in league) finished with 21 hits, including five
doubles, a triple and a home run.
