Boys golf: Five alive in PCL finals

SAN CLEMENTE - Five Newport-Mesa District players, including three
from Corona del Mar High, made the first-round cut Monday in the 36-hole
Pacific Coast League boys golf championships at San Clemente Golf Course,
where the final round will be held today at 11 a.m.
The top 12 and ties advanced to the final round, including CdM’s Brad
Chamberlain (74), Alex Chikovani (74) and Jason Wishengrad (77).
Estancia sophomore Jason Cassidy (77) and Costa Mesa junior Bryce
Sheridan (78) also survived Monday’s cut. University’s Nick Kim shot
even-par 71 and enters the final round as the leader.
The top six golfers today will advance to the CIF/Southern California
individual regionals May 14 at Green River. From that venue, the top 24
players advance to the finals at Canyon Country Club in Palm Springs.
