D-backs bite Mariners, 4-2
The Diamondbacks on Saturday earned the right to face the A’s in a
first-place playoff game for the first half Majors Division championship
by defeating the Mariners, 4-2, in Huntington Valley Little League
action.
Starting pitcher Chase Barnes kept the Mariners at bay by striking out
six to go along with just one hit and one walk, while not allowing a
single run in three innings on the mound.
Barnes was relieved by Jenna Balester, who struck out eight over the
final three innings.
Andy Scott Webster doubled and singled and Clayton Prestridge singled
twice to lead the D-backs.
Luke Patrick singled twice and had a two-RBI double to lead the
Mariners on offense. Starting pitcher Peter Bryson struck out six, and
reliever Austin Ray struck out three and didn’t allow a hit or run in two
innings of work.

A’s 4, Angels 2
Mike Jacinto went 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles, Sean Laveneau
singled twice, and Jimmy Queen threw a complete game victory to lead the
A’s.
Cody Walker, Race Parmenter, Brian Wiktorski, Alex Barnes and Chris
Ottens all singled for the Angels.
White Sox 11, Rangers 1
The White Sox were led by pitcher Hunter White, who went the distance
and struck out 14 while allowing four hits, and Josh Herrera, who hit a
three-run home run and doubled.
Sean King singled and doubled and Anthony Vidal had three singles for
the victors.
Trevor Briggs doubled twice, Michael Wellwood singled and Adam
Sciarillo singled and stole home to lead the Rangers.
MINOR A DIVISION
Cardinals 21, Yankees 4
The Cardinals came up with 16 hits, as Dave Folger singled three
times, Ryan Little, Eric Bartlett and Nick Gialenes each singled twice.
Nick Mazzone and Robert McKinley each doubled and singled; for the
Yankees, Matt Jacinto had a two-RBI double and Ryan Martinazzi singled.
Marlins 6, Mets 5
Trevor Carberry had a triple and two RBI, Jullien Herrera tripled with
one RBI, Tanner Phillips singled twice and pitcher Barry Luke produced a
complete game victory for the Marlins; Jacob Augeri doubled twice and
Alex Meneses singled twice for the Mets.
