Prayer breakfast to honor National Day of Prayer

HUNTINGTON BEACH -- In observance of the National Day of Prayer, the
greater Huntington Beach Interfaith Council will be holding a prayer
breakfast at 7:30 a.m. May 3 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 16400
Springdale.
The intention, said members of the Interfaith Council, is to give
people in the community an opportunity to speak up about local and
personal issues. Dialogue circles will be formed and each group will
appoint a person to facilitate the session, summarize the discussions and
present the gist of the group’s concern to the larger gathering. An
intercessor will then pray over the issues brought forward and offer
spiritual problem solving advice.
The host of the event, Father Bruce Patterson of the St. Bonaventure
Catholic Church, said that the breakfast is just an opportunity for
people of various faiths to gather and pray for the wellness of not just
the community and its needs, but as an example to show all people of all
communities that it isn’t difficult to get together and pray.
“We want people of different faiths to interact and this annual
breakfast event provides that. The principal thing is to just be able to
gather together as different people of different faiths and spend time
praying for the good of our community and communities as a whole,”
Patterson said.
