Softball: Lions swept by Azusa Pacific

AZUSA - The Vanguard University softball team dropped both Golden
State Athletic Conference contests to host Azusa Pacific, 3-0, and, 8-2,
Tuesday afternoon.
In the opener, Lions’ pitcher Gina Liebengood held the Cougars (38-15,
18-6 in conference) to only two hits and allowed no earned runs. But
Azusa Pacific parlayed five Lions’ errors into three runs.
In the nightcap, RBI hits by Jessica Thompson and Erin Gomez gave
Vanguard (33-19, 12-9) a 2-0 lead early, but the Cougars rallied for four
runs in the third and fourth innings to prevail.
Andrea Saucedo and Celina Camarillo each had two hits in the second
game for VU.
