NHBA Mustang: Dodgers edge Braves in slugfest

The Dodgers used some late-inning magic to defeat the Braves,
14-13, in Newport Harbor Baseball Association Bronco Division (ages
11-12) action.
Ian Goodwin came through with four hits, while Jarrett Daniel added
three hits and scored the winning run for the Dodgers.
R.J. D’Cruz came through with two hits and three runs scored, while
Trey LaGrandeur, Chase Behr, Dan Winkle, Alan Orozco, Jerry Whitney and
Eric Paine each added key hits.
The Dodgers’ pitching staff was led by Daniel, D’Cruz, Jake Dayton and
Robert Tumlin.
The Braves were led by John Swift, Niko Hernandez, Troy Seeber,
Armando Hernandez, Preston Davey, Justin Jones, Zack Tegel, Brice
Jardine, David Holmes and Michael Puncel.
In Mustang Division (ages 9-10) action:
Dodgers 10, Yankees 4 - Garrett McRoberts went 3 for 3 with a double,
while Justin Cotham went 2 for 2 to lead the Dodgers over the Yanks.
Chris Griffin added two hits, including a double and triple and drove
in three runs for the Dodgers.
The Yankees were led by Justin Todd, who had two hits and played solid
defense.
Red Sox 12, Cubs 6 - The Red Sox were led by Alex Rios, who went 4 for
4 with a double, two triples and four RBIs. and Ryan Albert, who had a
single, triple, two RBIs and three runs scored.
Randall Hause provided a timely hit for the Red Sox, while Luke
Fischer scored three runs.
Red Sox pitchers Eric Holland, Rios and Albert combined to strike out
13 batters, while Bobby Okvist, Jesse Hickey and Sean Mangano came
through with timely defense.
The Cubs were led by Gabriel Gomez and Michael McKay.
In Pinto Division (ages 7-8) action:
For the Braves, in their matchup with the Astros, Jake Black, Zack
Beaudin, Rick Sullivan, Aaron Newman, Luke Dawson, Steve Denghausen and
Colton Jackson each contributed to the team’s success.
