Community college women’s tennis: OCC advances to semis in regional

OCEANSIDE - The Orange Coast College women’s tennis team maintained
its momentum from a conference title season with a 5-1 win over
Southwestern at Mira Costa College in the Southern California Regional
Playoffs Tuesday.
Coach Janice Maran’s Pirates, Orange Empire Conference champions and
the Southern region’s No. 4 seed, advanced to the semifinals Tuesday,
against No. 1 seed Santa Barbara.
OCC freshmen Veronica Sommer, Vanessa Mai, Kristen Lawson and
sophomores Sondra McNamara and Merin Yoshida earned sinlges victories.
