LA MIRADA - The Vanguard University softball team managed just four
hits in its Golden State Athletic Conference doubleheader at Biola, but
the Lions still came away with a win Thursday.
The opener featured a pitchers’ duel as Vanguard’s Gina Liebengood
came out on top, 1-0, despite a no-hitter by Biola’s Jessica Logsdon.
Liebengood allowed just five hits and struck out 12.
Biola (40-11, 11-5 in conference) didn’t let the second game get away
as the Eagles built a 2-0 lead after the first inning and held on for a
3-0 win.
Shortstop Andrea Saucedo went 2 for 3, while Celina Camarillo and Erin
Gomez each had a hit for the Lions (29-17, 10-8).
