William M. Habermehl will take the oath of office as the new Orange
County Superintendent of Schools at 9 a.m. today at the Orange County
Department of Education, 200 Kalmus Drive, Costa Mesa.
Habermehl has worked in the administration of the Orange County
Department of Education for 23 years and has served as Associate
Superintendent for the last five. Since 1967, he has worked in education
as a teacher, department chair, campus and district administrator and
director of curriculum.
In addition to his work in education, Habermehl is the Chairman of the
Board of the Ocean Institute, a member of the Executive Board of Project
Tomorrow, Co-Chair of the Multicultural Institute for Leadership and a
member of the Board of Directors of the Constitutional Rights Foundation
of Orange County.
Habermehl has been an Orange County resident for 33 years, has been
married to his wife Holly for 35 and has three grown sons, all educated
in the Orange County public school system. He also has three
grandchildren.
