Diamondbacks win, 7-5, behind Webster’s big hit

Andy Scott Webster came up with the hit of the day during Saturday’s
Huntington Valley Little League Majors Division contest between the
Diamondbacks and Rangers, his two-out home run in the sixth inning
instrumental in the Diamondbacks’ 7-5 victory.
Webster, who also singled, finished the game with four RBI. Teammates
Hiroshi Toshyuki and Patrick Hart also had key hits in the game.
Diamondbacks starting pitcher Jeffrey Andrews struck out nine in four
innings, and was followed by Chase Barnes (one inning, three strikeouts),
and Kord Weber, who put the Rangers down in order in the final inning.
Shawn Stiffler threw two innings of no-hit ball (four strikeouts) for
the Rangers, who received key singles from Stiffler, Michael Wellwood,
Ryan Tulley, and Walt Romaniak.
IN OTHER GAMES:
* Angels 3, Mariners 2
Jimmy Queen threw three innings of no-hit ball Saturday for the
Angels, who held off the Mariners in a 3-2 Majors Division victory in
Huntington Valley Little League action.
Queen struck out five and didn’t allow the Mariners a run in his three
innings of work. Sean Lavenau finished on the mound for the Angels,
getting four strikeouts over the final three innings.
Queen and Lavenau also had singles in an Angels hitting attack that
was led by Kirk Hodgman’s two singles.
Chad Heberden doubled, while Peter Bryson, Karcher Morris, Luke
Patrick, Austin Ray and Anthony Ellis each had singles for the Mariners.
* A’s 12, White Sox 4
Race Parmenter went 3 for 3 with a double and also struck out five and
allowed three hits in three innings pitched. Alex Barnes singled twice,
had three RBI, and struck out three in one inning of pitching, Brian
Wiktorshi singled twice and doubled with two RBI, Pablo McBeth doubled
with an RBI and struck out three in two innings pitched, and Cody Walker
singled twice, to power the A’s.
The White Sox’s four hits were singles by Justin Thompson, Michael
Bogard, Hunter White and Anthony Vidal.
