CMNLL: Majors Diamondbacks double-up Cardinals

Pitcher Austin Elliott struck out nine over five innings to lead
the Diamondbacks to a 4-2 win over the Cardinals in Costa Mesa National
Little League Majors Division action.
Brandon Maurer pitched the final inning of relief to preserve the win
for the D-Backs, while Elliott, Aaron Quella, Trevor McDonald and Ryan
Redding each came through with clutch hits.
Taylor McClanahan caught the entire game for the D-Backs and threw out
a runner at third base.
The Cardinals were led by Andrew Monette, Peter Frydendall, Garrick
Williams, Evan Van Geem and Starnes Arnold.
In other Majors Division action:
Astros 2, Dodgers 1 - Caleb Burgess pitched an eight-strikeout,
complete-game gem for the Astros in their win over the Dodgers.
Trailing, 1-0, Brandon Esping singled and scored on a double by Matt
Pisarski, who later broke the tie when he scored on a passed ball.
The Astros’ defense was led by big catches from Cory De Angelo and
Bradley Fisher.
In Minor A Division action:
Dodgers 10, Diamondbacks 9 - Down six runs, the Dodgers used a late
rally to defeat the Diamondbacks.
Nick Urbanic had a two-run double, scoring Mareo Morales and Bryce
McClain, while Nick Pederson pitched quality relief for the Dodgers.
Other offensive and defensive contributors included Jordan Mueller,
Frank DeNoewer, Nolan Carr, Alex Grosek, Aaron Gross, Troy McClanahan and
Ryan Maxwell.
In Minor B Division Action:
Rockies 9, Marlins 2 - Mitch Pfautz, Nick Federiconi and Spencer
Roberts each reached base and scored to lead the Rockies over the
Marlins.
Blake Youngquist reached base three times, while Sean Anderson, Ryan
Churney and Spencer Roberts each a quality at-bats for the Rockies.
Defensively, the Rockies were led by Sean Anderson, Kohl Jones and
Brian Bray.
In T-Ball Majors action:
For the Cardinals, in their contest with the Dodgers, Brandon
Dieckhoff hit an inside-the-park home run, while Tyler Rios clubbed a
grand slam. Defensively, Jake Stone, Garrett Hope, Andres Hernandez and
Kaia Seagondollar led the glove work.
In T-Ball Minors action:
For the Astros, in their matchup with the Diamondbacks, Dennis Piens
had two hits, while solid defense was keyed by Garett Henscheid, Zac
Riedle and Nicholas Rubio.
