AYSO Region 120: Locals place second in Arizona tourney

MESA, Ariz. - The Costa Mesa boys under-14 spring select team from

AYSO Region 120 went undefeated and took second place at the Red Mountain

Soccer Tournament March 23-25.

Costa Mesa pulled out 6-3, 3-1, 1-0 and 6-1 wins in the tournament.

The defense was led by Kyle Eckmann, Jimmy Bueno, Danny Perez,

Christian Medina and Ricky Montgomery. The midfield was controlled by

Luis Andrade, Juan Cruz and Edgar Amador, while Nick Juarez, Carlos

Labrado, Nick Arant, Rovert Silva and Adrian Jimenez sparked the offense.

Also at the tournament, the Costa Mesa boys under-10 silver all-stars

and went 2-1-1 in the four contests.

Strong all-around play was turned in by Corey Dryen, Francisco Moreno,

Sebastian Fainsztein, Anthony Lucero, Garrett Frazier, Erick Loera, Marc

De Frenza, Anthony Arellano, Michael Delaney and Marco Rubalcavo.

In girls under-8 action:

The Costa Mesa squad, in their matchup with the Newport Bach Pirates,

were led by two goals by Brooke Lux and a solo tally by Whitney McAleer.

Megan Crosson and Danielle Nethercutt added assists, while Taylor

Thompson, Lauren Neiger and Melody Bottazzi anchored the defense.

In girls under-6 action:

The Costa Mesa Orange Crush had a strong game against Corona del Mar.

Anna Lux, Paige Schneider, Vivienne Hill, Hailey Oberst, Devin Mitchell,

Hannah Frazier and Karley Johnston provided quality play throughout the

game.
