Prep softball: CdM opens PCL with 4-1 win

LAGUNA BEACH - Corona del Mar High sophomore Meaghan Bunney blasted
a two-run single to break a 1-1 tie, en route to a 4-1 softball victory
over host Laguna Beach, in a Pacific Coast League opener Tuesday.
Bunney finished 2 for 4 and the two RBIs, which brought in senior
Mijanou Pham, who doubled, and Alissa Zoelle, who walked, in the third
inning.
CdM sophomore Lauren Loe went 3 for 4 as she laid “three perfect
bunts,” Sea Kings Coach Terry Christiano said.
Zoelle went the distance to pick up her fourth pitching win. CdM (6-4,
1-0 in league) will host Northwood, Thursday at 3:15 p.m.
The Artists fell to 7-6 overall, 0-1 in league.
