NHBA Bronco: Indians take care of Red Sox
The Newport Harbor Baseball Association Bronco Division (ages
11-12) Indians defeated the Red Sox, 13-1, Saturday.
Kyle Rohan led the 13-hit attack for the Indians. He went 3 for 4 with
three RBIs, while Jonathan Sutterfield and Nathan Todd each had two hits
and two RBIs.
Jackson Massingill added a two-run single, while Myles Christian,
Robert Rubio, Josh Jobse and and Robby Joslin each added key hits.
Kaban, Rohan, Todd and Garrett Gordon combined to strikeout eight Red
Sox over five innings of work.
In Pony Division (ages 13-14) action:
Calvary Eagles 8, NH Yankees 4 - Cody Smith’s home run and a two-run
home run by Patrick Dayton in the final inning gave the Eagles some
much-needed breathing room against the Yankees.
Josh Seliner pitched a strong seventh inning to end the Yankees’
hopes.
In Mustang Division action (ages 9-10):
Rockies 12, Red Sox 3 - Matt Sarvak and Cody Green led the Rockies
pitching and hitting brigades, while Jason Harris and Mike Raziano each
pitched quality innings.
Despite the loss, the Red Sox were led by strong offense from Ryan
Albert, Alex Rios and Erick Holland.
Dodgers 17, Angels 2 - Braden Cluck had three hits and five RBIs,
while Garrett McRoberts went 3 for 3 with three RBIs for the Dodgers.
Max Jolliffe had a key two-run double, while Chris Griffin, Victor
Done and Jeff Frum combined to pitch a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts.
Jeff Allee, Justin Cothan, David Blake and Peter Thomsen each scored
runs and played solid, all-around games for the Dodgers.
In Pinto Division action (ages 7-8):
For the Marlins, in their matchup with the Astros, Austin Rios, Max
Gerard and Scotty Steffel led the charge, while Claire Silva, Gwen
Gaylord and Domenic Re supplied the offensive punch.
Mac McKelvey was strong on the bases, while Zachary Buie, Teddy
Steffel and Brecht Vanthof anchored the Marlins’ defense.
For the Cardinals, in their matchup with the Astros, key hits were
provided by Jed Gentry, David Martinez, Paul Newmen, Craig Picetti
Charlie Massingill, Matt Bancroft and Chase Salazar.
Bancroft, Massingill and Nelson Simons combined to pitch five strong
innings with four strikeouts.
For the Dodgers, in their contest with the Braves, strong, all-around
play was turned in by Zach Beardin, Luke Dawson, Spencer Rautus, Steve
Denghausen, Cotton Jackson, Jake Black and Jamie Davis.
