CMNLL Majors: Astros get first win of season

COSTA MESA - Austin Evett tossed a complete game to lead the Astros
to an 8-2 win over the CMALL’s Red Sox in Costa Mesa National Little
League Majors Division action Saturday.
Evett had five strikeouts and made five putouts in the outing, while
Matt Pisarski had a double and two RBIs for the Astros.
Other Astro offensive contributors included Ricky Campo, Kory
DeAngelo, Brandon Esping and Jordan Alcazar, while Drew Bertoni, Lawrence
Thunell and Kevin Wright anchored the defense.
In other Majors Division action:
Marlins 8, White Sox 0 - The pitching trip of Brice Stillman, Anthony
Seacrest and Adam Seagondollar combined for a one-hit shutout for the
Marlins.
Offensively, the Marlins were sparked by Chad Belmont and Andre
Whitaker, who each had key hits, while Vinnie Valdez connected on his
second home run of the year.
In Minor A action:
Marlins 13, Angels 0 - Michael Gilmore, who returned from a preseason
injury, pitched three shutout innings with six strikeouts to lead the
Marlins.
Johnny Person struck out the side in the fourth inning, while strong
Marlin defense was turned in by Cameron Santana, Kyle Lux, Cory Ames and
Evan Kipnis.
On offense, the Marlins received key hits and runs from Ames, Person,
Santana, Gilmore, Kipnis, Lux, Gregory Stanley, Juan Merno, Blake
Rowerdink and Zackary Arant.
In Minor B action:
Dodgers 7, Rockies 5 - Adam Miller, Ryan Boselo and Andrew Roth
combined to shut down the Rockies’ offense enough to win.
Roth had two hits, while Ryan Molasky, Josh Godich and Kendra Fisher
each added key hits for the Dodgers.
On defense, Bryan Maurer, Luke Roberts, Tony Campo, Nick Fowler and
Tim Frydendall led the Dodgers.
The Rockies were led by strong play from Nick Federiconi, Mitch Pfautz
and Sean Anderson.
In Farm Division action:
The Cubs, in their matchup with the Reds, were led by the strong,
all-around play of Alex Krohnfeldt (four hits), Courtney Weigand, Sami
Feinstein, Kaela Feinstein, and Likyana McLendon (three hits each).
Kasandra Serrileo and Fernanda Broner and Karry Pena.
For the Astros, in their contest with the Dodgers, Nickolas Rubio,
Jason Rodriguez and Garret Henscheid played strong defense, while Derek
Berry led the hit parade.
