Swimming: Mesa falls to University
IRVINE - The Costa Mesa High girls swim team lost to host
University, 106-62, Wednesday, in Pacific Coast League action.
Erin Bayes and Jody Martinovich each won two events to lead the
Mustangs (3-1).
Bayes won the 50-yard freestyle (25.63) and came back with a win in
the 100 free (55.85).
Jody Martinovich won both the 200 individual medley (2:21.19) and the
500 free (5:34.72).
Wendy Martinovich touched the wall first in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.63). She teamed up with Bayes, Jody Martinovich and Shirley Ping to
win the 200 free relay (1:49.16)
On the boys side, Mesa (0-4) dropped a 131-21 decision to the Trojans.
Mike Whitman placed second in the 200 IM (2:12.40) and took third in
the 100 breaststroke (1:08.23).
Teammate Steven Reyes placed third in the 200 free (2:28.91).
