Boys golf: Sailors take lead over Ayala

SANTA ANA - The Newport Harbor High boys golf team holds a 213-217

advantage over Ayala after nine holes of action played Wednesday at Santa

Ana Country Club, par 36.

Brent Beebe shot a 40 to lead the Sailors, while George Hanold (41),

Miller Akins (43), Andrew Crookhall (44) and Mark Underwood (45) complete

Newport’s top five.

The Sailors and Bulldogs will resume their match Wednesday at Los

Serranos Golf Course, beginning at 3 p.m.

Newport plays again today at 3 p.m. at Big Canyon Country Club against

Dana Hills. The Dolphins hold a 17-shot lead over the Sailors after nine

holes.
