Swimming: OCC men and women take care of Santa Ana
COSTA MESA - The Orange Coast College swimming Coach Dave Salo
opened his Pirates’ coaching career with a resounding splash Friday as
the men’s and women’s teams easily defeated visiting Santa Ana.
The OCC men defeated the Dons, 142-11, while the women won, 182-55, in
Orange Empire Conference action.
On the men’s side, Tyler Townsend and David Collier (Estancia High)
each won two events for the Pirates. Townsend won the 50-meter freestyle
and 200 backstroke, while Collier captured both the 200 and 500 freestyle
events.
On the women’s side, Laurelle Rzeszewski and Neisha Hoagland were also
multi-event winners. Rzeszewski won the 200 free and 100 butterfly, while
Hoagland took first in the 50 free and 50 butterfly.
The Pirates will host Golden West Wednesday at 2 p.m.
