CORONA DEL MAR - A blast off the bat of Corona del Mar High junior
Billy Eagle was flagged down near the right-center field fence to kill
what would have been a go-ahead, fifth-inning rally in the Sea Kings’ 2-1
loss to visiting Capistrano Valley in the Foothill-Costa Mesa Tournament
Thursday.
“Capo is considered one of the best teams in Orange County, so this
tells us where we stand,” CdM Coach John Emme said.
Senior Cavan Cuyler pitched a complete-game six-hitter to absorb the
tough-luck loss.
Andrew Johns had two of the Sea Kings’ four hits.
CdM, which hosts Tustin Saturday in another round-robin tournament
game, fell to 1-2.
