Roller hockey: CdM wins twice to take over first place
The Corona del Mar club roller hockey team took over sole
possession of first place with wins over Calvary Chapel, 9-6, and Mater
Dei, 6-3.
In the win over Calvary Chapel, Adam Freede led the way with five
goals and two assists. Austin Chase added one goal and four assists,
while Ryan Stockwell and Blake Smith each chipped in one goal and one
assist.
In the second game against Mater Dei, Freede added to his
league-leading total of 43 points with four goals, while Stockwell and
Smith each had one goal apiece.
Austin Chase, David Bolton, Bryan Grey, Gary Smith, Andre Svadjian and
Evan Cooper were all instrumental in CdM’s victories.
In earlier action, CdM defeated Newport Harbor, 3-2. Goals by Bolton,
Freede and Stockwell proved to be enough, while Cooper had 21 saves in
goal.
In other club roller hockey action:
Ensign 8, Serrano 4 - Kyle Pfeiffer, Spencer Link and Rhett Palmer
each had two goals for Ensign, while Jesus Sotele and Collin Insley each
added solo tallies.
Zack Boston and Insley each had two assists, while Rory Campbell, Alex
Yerkes, Tristen McNeill, Jake Merzoian and Michael Matthews each played
solid, all-around games.
