Youth Soccer: Slammers advance to final 16

The Slammers Futbol Club girls under-13 soccer team defeated
Infinity, 6-0, in Lancaster and advanced to the round of 16 in the
CYSA-South National Cup.
The Slammers’ Alexa Orand netted two goals, while Tiffany Alvarez,
Brianna Bak, Diana Signorello and Christina Trenton each scored one.
Goalie Jackie Wood held Infinity to the shutout that came from support
from the midfielders and defenders, including Vanessa Fallon, Amy
Klippert, Krystal Wright, Kelly Morgan, Jessica Mazura, Tanya Emerson,
Alicia Salgado, Sammy Tiampo, Alexis Milke and J.J. Jenson.
If the Slammers win Saturday at 11:30 a.m. against the Valley United
Stars, they will advance to the quarterfinals on Sunday.
The Slammer Girls under-12 team also advanced to the Sweet Sixteen.
The under-12 team defeated the Del Mar Sharks, 1-0. Christina Murillo
scored the lone goal.
The Slammers allowed just two shots on goal led by strong defensive
efforts from Taylor Fallon, Kellye Joswick, Kristin Player, goalie Mary
Giberson, Megan Jesolva, Shannon Johnson, Jackie Zinke, Lauren Hernandez,
Brina Siddeq, Leslie Grandy, Nicole Marquand, Sara Nalley and Kimberly
Mercurio.
