Community College Baseball: OCC wins in 12

COSTA MESA - Orange Coast College freshman Scott Beerer’s two-out

single in the 12th inning scored Chris Sinner from second base to lift

the Pirates to a 3-2 Orange Empire Conference baseball victory over

visiting Irvine Valley Tuesday.

Beerer, a Newport Harbor High product, collected two hits and also

scored the game-tying run in the eighth inning on Josh McCanne’s two-out

single.

McCanne and Sinner finished with three hits.

Glenn Hedgpeth pitched the final three innings to earn the win for the

Bucs (13-3, 3-1 in conference) and improve to 3-0.

Mark Courvoisier relieved Coast starter Matt Clanton and pitched seven

shutout innings, giving up just five hits without walking a batter.

IVC fell to 5-12, 0-4.

The Pirates host Saddleback Thursday at 2 p.m.
