Local schools appreciate Mimi’s Cafe’s student programs
Mimi’s Cafe will celebrate the 10-year anniversary of its Student
Recognition Program. The program was designed to encourage the
accomplishments of young people by rewarding them with complimentary
meals, award certificates and other prizes.
Each year, Mimi’s Cafe distributes about 350,000 achievement
certificates to students in kindergarten through sixth grade who display
scholastic merit, fine arts achievement, a positive attitude and other
accomplishments. The certificates can be redeemed at any Mimi’s Cafe for
a free child’s meal and a star achievement pin.
Thomas Simms, president and founder of Mimi’s Cafe, said the program
was conceived in gratitude to the many families who have patronized the
restaurants throughout the years.
“The certificates and free meals are a wonderful motivation for our
students,” said Lorraine Leavitt, principal of Plavan Elementary School
in Fountain Valley. “With budgets getting tighter each year, we
appreciate Mimi’s Cafe and others from the private sector for their
partnerships.”
Mimi’s also offers a Child Sports Recognition Program for children age
10 and younger. The program distributes specially made “wooden nickels”
to elementary school principals and athletic directors. They, in turn,
are encouraged to reward young athletes who have displayed positive
attitudes or performed to the best of their abilities. The coins can be
redeemed at any Mimi’s Cafe location for a complimentary child’s meal.
In addition, Mimi’s also participates in anannual program that
distributes approximately 50,000 letters of appreciation to honor
teachers, coaches, parent volunteers and office administrators for their
dedication and commitment to young people. The letters may be redeemed
for a free specialty coffee and dessert at Mimi’s Cafe.
Those interested in Mimi’s Student Recognition, Wooden Nickel or other
incentive programs, may fax requests on school or program letterhead to
(714) 730-0587.
Requests may also be mailed to Mimi’s Cafe University, 17395 E. 17th
Street, Suite D, Tustin, CA 92780.
Donations still sought for Edison stadium benches
Edison High School is still seeking donations for the “Save a Seat”
campaign. The campaign is designed to replace dilapidated wooden benches
in the school’s stadium with new aluminum ones. The wood benches are
rotting away and pose a potential hazard. Donations of any amount are
accepted.
The campaign has almost hit the halfway mark at $11,265. School
officials hope to gather $30,000 to install new benches in time for
graduation June 15.
For information on donations, call Jill Johnson at (714) 962-1356,
Ext. 204.
