Wrestling: CdM second at PCL Finals

CORONA DEL MAR - The Corona del Mar wrestling team finished second
and had four league champions in the Pacific Coast League finals at the
Sea Kings gym Saturday. Estancia had seven wrestlers at the PCL finals
and seven reached the CIF Southern Section Division IV meet on Feb. 16
and 17 at Santa Margarita High. Costa Mesa will send three to the CIF
meet.
Sea Kings Jeremy Warner (112), Aaron Hacker (152), Eric Fredrickson
(171) and Dan Ornguze (189) won league titles. Hacker won his second
straight title.
Estancia’s Jeremy Valdes, Victor Carmona (125) and Nathan Thaler (215)
were also crowned champions.
Mustangs Silvio Estrada (130), Benedick David (140) and Myron Tracy
(145) finished as runner-up in their respective weight classes.
Eagles Luis Valdes (103), Peter Deip (112) and Devon Bowling
(heavyweight) won second-place honors.
CdM’s Ben Wynkoop (135), Brian Freedman (119) and Steve Shipman (215)
also earned runner-up status at the PCL meet.
At the Sea View League finals at Irvine High, Newport Harbor’s Bruce
Lim (119) won the league championship. He will wrestle in the CIF
Southern Section Division II meet at Canyon Springs High in Moreno Valley
Feb. 16 and 17.
