Girls water polo: Harbor takes sixth; Sea Kings 13th

IRVINE - The Newport Harbor girls water polo team finished in sixth
place, after a 9-3 loss to Agoura, in the Irvine Southern California
Championships at Heritage Park Saturday.
Harbor freshman Jessica Ball scored two goals and Katherine Belden
finished with one. Senior goalie Heather Deyden had seven saves for the
Sailors (15-8).
Newport reached the fifth-place game by defeating Long Beach Wilson,
9-4, as Ball scored four goals, Belden had two and Erin Ball threw in
one. Deyden had eight saves.
Corona del Mar earned 13th place in the 32-team tournament of the best
teams in Southern California. The Sea Kings had victories over Cabrillo,
9-6, and Los Alamitos, 8-6.
CdM sophomore Christina Hewko scored five goals against Cabrillo and
one against Los Alamitos. Sea King junior goalie Jessica Wells recorded
six saves in each game. Sea Kings Daniela DiGiacomo and Lindsey Daley
scored two goals each help CdM earn 13th place.
Foothill, ranked No. 1 in Orange County, won the tournament with a 5-4
victory over Bell Gardens.
