COSTA MESA - The Estancia High boys soccer team overcame a 1-0
deficit for a 5-2 Pacific Coast League win over visiting Laguna Beach
Wednesday.
Eagles Ricardo Avila, Javier Millan, Osbaldo Nieves, Armando Ortiz and
Juan Zarate scored one goal each.
Estancia (8-4-3, 4-2 in league) also defeated the Artists (1-4-1 in
league) Monday, 5-2, as Laguna Beach tried to take advantage of its small
field.
“Monday we played the best game we played all season,” Estancia Coach
Steve Crenshaw said. “The intensity level was just dominating.”
On Wednesday, however, the Eagles played a bit more relaxed, Crenshaw
said, because they relied on their speed that tired the Arists on
Estancia’s bigger field.
“They spent the whole time chasing us,” Crenshaw said.
Eagles goalie Adam Kapko finished with one save.
Estancia will host Corona del Mar on Friday at 3:15. Then, the Eagles
will play at crosstown rival Costa Mesa in a make-up game on Saturday at
10 a.m.
