Nicole Cagnolatti, a 24-year-old Orange Coast College airframe and
power plant technology major, is expected to receive her multi-engine
license this month. The Long Beach resident flies a tri-motor for a tour
company and recently received a special honor from the Federal Aviation
Administration and a $1,000 scholarship presented by an international
organization of licensed women pilots called The Ninety-Nines. She
completed her first semester at OCC’s two-year airframe and power plant
technology program with 18 credits ... Madeline Zuckerman Public
Relations & Marketing Inc., based in Newport Beach, has been selected by
Mikimoto (America) Co. Ltd. to handle public relations for its three West
Coast stores, including one at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. Mikimoto
is the originator of cultured pearls ... Orange Coast College ranked
second of 57 community colleges in Southern California in the number of
students it transferred to the UC and Cal State systems during the
1999-00 academic year, according to statistics released by the California
Postsecondary Education Commission. OCC ranked fourth of the state’s 107
two-year institutions. For transfers to the Cal State system, the college
tops Southern California community colleges and ranks second in the
state. Three hundred thirty-nine students transferred to the nine UC
campuses, and 1,142 went to the 22 Cal State campuses. The number of
students transferring during 1999-00 increased by 1.8% from the previous
academic year ... Andrew J. Guilford, a Costa Mesa resident, is a member
of the newly appointed Supreme Court Advisory Task Force on
Multijurisdictional Practice. The group, appointed by the California
Supreme Court, was assembled to “study and make recommendations regarding
whether and under what circumstances attorneys who are licensed to
practice law in other states ... may be permitted to practice law in
California.” The task force is comprised of community and bar leaders
from various practices and backgrounds ... John Przybyla, regional
manager for the Newport Beach office of Marcus & Millichap Real Estate
Investment Brokerage Co., recently announced the sale of a Carl’s Jr.
Restaurant in Corona for about $1.6 million to a private family trust. He
also announced that Blockbuster Plaza in Mission Viejo sold for about
$2.5 million to Mosesian Land Co., Coco’s Restaurant in Ontario for
$970,000 to James Chung and the 17th Street Office Building in Santa Ana
for about $1.5 million to an individual.
