Girls water polo: Harbor’s streak snapped

NEWPORT BEACH - Newport Harbor High’s girls water polo team had its

10-game winning streak come to an end Saturday.

Carlsbad’s Scottie Schaefer scored at the buzzer as the host Sailors

lost the nonleague contest, 8-7.

Newport junior Katherine Belden scored four goals and senior Jenna

Booth threw in two. Jenna Murphy also had a goal for Harbor (10-2),

ranked No. 3 in Orange County.

Booth scored twice in the final period. Her second goal gave the

Sailors a 7-6 lead. But, Carlsbad scored twice with 1:21 remaining.
