Boys soccer: Costa Mesa wins in shootout
ANAHEIM - With a 1-1 deadlock, the Costa Mesa High boys soccer team
needed a shootout with Santiago to determine a winner at the Magnolia
Tournament on Wednesday.
When the smoke cleared, the Mustangs prevailed on penalty kicks, 4-2.
Bernardo Falci brought the Mustangs even in regulation with a goal at
the 45th minute off an assist by Trinidad Hernandez.
Goalie Bryce Sharidan recorded seven saves and made three big stops in
the shootout for Costa Mesa (2-3-1).
The Mustangs will play at Tustin today at 5 p.m. before resuming
Magnolia Tournament action on Friday.
