Women’s volleyball: OCC’s Wilson named to All-American squad.
COSTA MESA - Orange Coast College women’s volleyball standout
Lauren Wilson was named to the All-Orange Empire Conference, All-Southern
California Regional and Community College All-American teams, according
to Coach Chuck Cutenese.
It’s the first year any Orange Coast women’s volleyball player has
ever been selected to the Community College All-American team since the
team was developed in 1990.
“In my years at OCC, she is the most complete and most decorated
player I’ve ever coached,” Cutenese said. “She is as well-rounded an
athlete as she is a student and she’s as Wilson, headed for UC San Diego
in January, broke OCC’s single-season kills total with 442. The old mark
was 404, set by Beth Waterman (Newport Harbor High) last season.
Wilson’s 303 digs are the second-highest single-season total in school
history and her 60 blocks is sixth all-time for one season.
Joining Wilson on the All-OEC first team is sophomore Natasha Evylnn.
Daylyn Kelly (Costa Mesa) and Taryn Moore were second-team, All-OEC
selections from OCC.
